All mediums come individually in 50ml & 250ml jars.

Mica Flakes

Shiny and pearlescent, these attractive Mica Flakes settle parallel to the painted surface composing a flexible and chemically inert layer of excellent durability. The flake-like particles have a diameter/thickness ratio of 25:1, and a particle size of 2mm to 4mm.  Therefore they are extremely thin, though strong and tough with a pleasing texture. In order to retain their shimmer, best results can be obtained by mixing Mica Flakes with either MM4 Gel Medium, or MM7 Gloss Varnish and Gloss Medium. Sprinkle small amounts of Matisse Mica Flakes finely on top of wet medium for maximum glistening effect. For textural effects on paintings and collage, use up to equal parts of Mica Flakes.  An unusually interesting texture can be obtained when used on collograph plates. Oil painters can mix Mica Flakes with their favourite appropriate oil painting mediums, nevertheless it should be understood that the ambient effect of the oil mediums could become brown. It is recommended that testing should always be done before the medium is used on artwork.
